How my journey began

I started my running career in the early 1990’s, at the young age of 14, falling quickly in love with cross-county and track while attending Fountain Valley High School in Southern California.

I then went on to pursue a degree in Exercise Physiology (B.S. 2000) from Adams State University in Alamosa, Colorado. While in college, my commitment to the sport of running continued to grow, as I competed in cross-country and indoor and outdoor track, specializing in the middle-distance events.

Post-graduation, I moved to Mammoth Lakes, California, where I created and coached a non-profit running club called the High Sierra Striders and have now settled into the role as head coach of the Mammoth Track Club.

In 2022 the Mammoth Track Club again partnered with ASICS as their footwear and apparel sponsor.  This partnership will take us through the 2024 Paris Olympics and beyond!  We are extremely happy to have ASICS in our corner with their superior, performance based footwear!

My wife (Olympic bronze medalist and American Record holder in the marathon, Deena Kastor) and I currently reside in Mammoth Lakes with our daughter, Piper Bloom (who, of course, loves to ski and not run).

The proof was in the results. Within 4 months with his program, in my third marathon, I achieved my BQ with a time of 3:30 (at age 55!), giving me a 5-minute cushion. In local races I began to finally make the podium.
